CCDE Bargaining Team Update 10/8/09

The FSU CCDE bargaining team met with the administration for a second bargaining session last Friday October 2nd.  The parties had agreed at the previous bargaining session to bring proposals. The Union came prepared with specific proposals to enhance working conditions while the administration was still discussing an overall strategy to align the CCDE and Day contract language.

The parties share a similar interest in assuring the existing contract language be modified to bring it into closer conformance with the Day contract.  Most of the CCDE faculty are currently provided with rights and benefits from both contracts which has caused much confusion when administering the Agreement.  In addition, the rights that do exist in the CCDE contract are often difficult to assess given there is a heavy reliance on individual departments to maintain accurate records.

There is much work to be done to align the Day and CCDE contracts but the FSU CCDE bargaining team remains committed to our original principles of:  Compensation: Parity; Comparable Working Conditions; and, Comprehensible Language.

WE NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU!!!!

Our next challenge will be to bring the Day and CCDE contract provisions into conformity.  We will be taking an overall look at all the significant provisions of the CCDE and Day contracts to develop proposals that will minimize any distinction between the two Agreements- to the extent possible and most advantageous to our members. We need to hear your ideas and concerns and have set another membership meeting for that purpose.

PLEASE ATTEND THE NEXT SCHEDULED CCDE BARGAINING TEAM BRIEFING ON:
