Voluntary Separation Program Info and Rally Next Saturday, June 20

Dear Colleague,

We hope you are having a good summer.  We are busy.  Below is an update:

►Voluntary Separation:  For information on this, click here.  You have until Friday, July 7th to submit your paperwork.  There has been some confusion about this program.  Please look at the FAQ sheet. Note that NTTs who are benefitted and have continuing appointments and who have worked at any time during the 2016/17 academic year are eligible for this program.

►Course Cancellations and NTTs: Please let us know what is happening in your department regarding course cancellations and budget cuts.  We are hearing that people are not able to teach what they want to teach as a result of these changes.  Please sign the petition here if you have not already done so and let us know the extent of the course cancellations and faculty reductions.

►Faculty at UMass Lowell in the Adjunct Faculty Union have been in contract negotiations for two years.  They are holding a rally on June 20 from 11:45 to 1 pm at 50 Warren Street in Lowell and are asking for our support.  Please consider taking the trip north to give them your support.  See here for more details.

For FSU members in good standing:

Retirement counseling is available on Monday, June 26.  This meeting will help  members in the State Employee Retirement System (MSERS) determine the best time to retire and what to anticipate during the process, as well as provide information on retiree health insurance, Medicare and Social Security benefits for both MSERS and ORP (Optional Retirement Plan) participants. Please see here to schedule an appointment and for more information.

The MTA Summer Conference will be at UMass Amherst from July 30-August 3. Take MTA-sponsored workshops on everything from grievance and member advocacy training to time management strategies, and meet fellow MTA members from across the state. For details see here (the deadline to register is July 14th).  The FSU can reimburse a portion of your costs of the conference. Contact the FSU office if you are interested.

Have a great and relaxing summer!
