MTA Summer Conference and MTA Retirement Workshops- Additional Dates For July and August

Dear FSU Member,

The Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA) summer conference is back!    

Come join fellow MTA members July 31st to August 3rd at UMass Amherst.   

This year’s conference is ‘offering program tracks focused on union leadership, advocacy, bargaining and political organizing’.

Kicking off the conference July 31st is Christian Smalls and Derrick Palmer, of the Amazon Labor Union and Kylah Clay and Tyler Daguerre of Starbucks Workers United – Boston.   

We’d also like to inform you of the following additional retirement workshops conducted by the MTA’s retirement specialist, Ed McCourt (see his email below).

MTA Retirement Consultation availabilities for July and August as of 10AM on 7/1/22:

July 8-  1:10PM, 2PM, 2:50PM, 4:30PM

July 19- 9:40AM, 12:40PM, 1:30PM, 2:20PM, 3:10PM

August 4- 9:40AM, 11:10AM, 12PM, 12:50PM, 1:40PM, 2:30PM, 4:20PM

 

 

 

If you want to register for one of the above virtual retirement consultations, follow this link. [Start by clicking on the tab to the left, go the July and August calendars, click one the date(s) and select an available 40-minute slot.]

Registration requires a member’s name and email, a best phone contact, the member’s campus affiliation, the member’s MTA number (found on the wallet-sized membership card), and a choice of either a phone call or online Meet session.  Once submitted, a confirmation email is generated.   

If none of these times is suitable for you or if all slots have been taken, email me directly.  I will place you on a list to be notified if an additional consultation day is authorized for late August.

P.S. It’s essential that your MTA number is provided before the start of our meeting. If you are not aware of your MTA number, the meeting confirmation will provide information about how to secure you membership number through MTA. So that your member ID is not an issue at our meeting time, kindly secure your ID number immediately.
