Subject: Campus Center Garage Closed; Weekend Water Damage to Campus Facilities
To the Campus Community,
As we return to campus tomorrow, I am writing to inform the campus community about the closure of the Campus Center Garage and water damage caused to the Campus Center, Clark Athletic Center, and Integrated Sciences Complex during this weekend's severe cold weather. Departments affected by this damage have been notified and remediation work began this weekend.
The Campus Center Garage is closed until further notice. The garage's fire protection system was damaged due to the severe cold temperature. It needs to be repaired and certified before the garage can be returned to use. Repairs are presently underway, and the campus community will be informed when the garage is able to be reopened. The West Garage, Lot D, and Bayside will be open for the campus's parking needs.
Expanded ADA parking will be available in the West Garage. Any parker with an ADA placard or accessible parking arrangement with Transportation Services may park in any marked reserved parking space on the first level of the garage. Route 2 service will assist parkers with a direct connection to the Campus Center from the West Garage, and shuttle service will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. until further notice.
All campus buildings except the Campus Center Garage will be open tomorrow. The campus community may see the Facilities Department completing repairs in certain buildings, including the upper level of the Campus Center by the plaza, the Clark gymnasium, and the ISC first floor lobby.
All food locations will be open. There may be some adjustments to the regular offerings while the water damage to the Campus Center kitchen is repaired.
We appreciate the campus community's patience while repairs are being made and are grateful for all who are assisting in these efforts.
Please do not hesitate to contact Facilities Service Response at 617-287-5450 or facilities@umb.edu should there be any additional damage noted.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Kirleis
