Reminder: Archives Open House Tomorrow, 3/30

3/29/2023

A reminder to please join us tomorrow at 1:30 for an Archives Open House on the fifth floor of the library, jointly hosted by the FSU and the Healey Library’s Archives (more information below). In commemoration and honor of civil rights leader Mel King, a selection of materials from his 1983 Boston mayoral campaign will be on display (contact library.archives@umb.edu for more information about his papers, which he recently donated to UMass Boston).

Please also save the date for next Thursday, April 6 from 12:30-2:00 for a virtual FSU forum on issues concerning the library and the working conditions of our FSU librarians. A Zoom link will be sent out next week.

Greetings colleagues,

The FSU and the University Archives and Special Collections department in the Healey Library invite you to join us for an Archives Open House on Thursday, March 30 from 1:30-3:30. The event will be held in the Archives Research Room on the fifth floor of the Healey Library, and light refreshments will be served in the adjoining Grossmann Gallery. Join your archivist colleagues and members of the FSU Executive Committee to explore a selection of materials representing the many wonderful primary source research collections that our library holds, such as original materials documenting local community organizations, social activism, the history of social work, Massachusetts politics, the Vietnam War, the women’s liberation and gay rights movements, the arts, the environment, and much more.

Highlights will include:

Unable to join us for this event, but interested in incorporating the Healey Library’s Archives into your research and scholarship? Please email library.archives@umb.edu to speak with an archivist or schedule a research appointment, or explore the Archives’ digital collections site.
