Dear Members,

Today is Earth Day!   The first earth day took place in 1970 and included activities across the country.  Why April 22^nd?  Oddly, the date was selected because it was partway between spring break and final exams plus there is milder weather in April.

This issue is longer than usual. It is so because we have lots of information to share.  

UPDATE: Medical Leave and Third-Party Vendor

Last week’s issue informed you we, along with other UMass unions are working together in coalition and will be taking some actions.  On Friday, March 22^nd the FSU sent a formal letter to the Chancellor demanding to cease and desist implementation of the new vendor, FMLASource.

Dear Members, 

July 1, 2023, Pay Raise

We are happy to say our December 22, 2023, paycheck will include your July 1, 2023, 4% raise plus the retroactive pay from July 1^st.  To receive the July 1^st, raise, you needed to have been on payroll on June 30, 2023.  The ranks for Lecturer and above are eligible for the pay raise.

Dear Members,

What a glorious morning it is.   

Governor Healey signed the supplemental budget! Our raises have been adopted.

Yesterday afternoon, the House  and Senate passed the supplemental budget.  At 5pm the governor signed it into law.
