How are you being impacted by the federal government funding cuts?

7/11/2025

Dear Members,

For the past six months, funding for a variety of federal programs has been cut, reduced or even frozen.  Each funding action affects a grant, research work and even student support programs (TRIO).

Governor Healey wants to know if you are being impacted by federal funding cuts.  We are asking you to take a moment and complete the online reporting form  (https://www.mass.gov/forms/massachusetts-federal-funding-issue-reporting-form)

The FSU along with the MTA is pushing for the state to provide bridge funding to assist those impacted. Completing this form makes the Governor aware of who is impacted.  The more her office knows the direct impacts, the more pressure we can place on her and the legislature to seek bridge funding.

Please share this form with co-workers, students, community members...anybody who you think might be affected by the cuts.  (Think: research grant programs, grad student workers, staff of TRIO programs, food banks dependent on SNAP, etc.)

If you complete the form, please let us know. Just a quick email so we can know who is impacted and keep you updated on future actions.

Thank you for your assistance as we work to keep scholarship and research support front and center.

2024-2027 Contract Update

At the last hour, our contract made it into the passed Senate supplemental budget.  The budget is currently in a conference committee which occurs when the passed Senate and House bills are not the same. Once the committee report is completed and a vote is taken, we will then know the timeline for our retroactive pay raises.

Sincerely,

Caroline Coscia
