FSU Executive Committee Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, March 19, 2024, 3.30-5.00 pm (Zoom)

- Amendment of Agenda: Adoption of new item (7)
- Adoption of Agenda: Motion to approve the agenda. Motion seconded. Motion passes.
- Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve the minutes of the February 27, 2024 Executive Committee meeting. Motion seconded. Motion passes.
- Election Committee: update (5 minutes): Candidate forum will be held on March 20. One NTT candidate dropped out of the election.
- University Dining Club (UDC): update (Lynne) (8 minutes): University Dining Committee had their second meeting yesterday (March 18). Discussed whether there had ever been a membership fee and if that could be proposed again to offset costs of opening up the UDC. The committee needs ideas on how we (faculty, staff, librarians, others) imagine the space. Caroline proposed running a survey.
- Medical Leave: Update: under the new FMLA policy, we the employees initiate our own leave requests. The new policy is expected to be implemented this summer.
FSU is working in coalition with other unions and will be sending our administration a cease-and-desist letter. We are working on building an action network, pushing back against the university privatizing and outsourcing. Lynn asked: shouldn’t we be informed when the university signs such agreements? Monique/Caroline: the corporation handling these requests is FMLA Source, there are many lawsuits against them.

8. FSU 2024-2025 Budget (30 minutes): Monique presented the draft budget, summarized different line items and presented the budget subcommittee recommendation of a dues increase of $65. Jared suggested that a dues increase of $80 would be more forward looking. Discussion of this item will continue in the next Executive Committee meeting April 2.
9. Announcement: Patricia announced that the Africana Studies faculty have issued a press release and will hold a press conference in the Africana Studies Conference Room at 1 pm on Wednesday March 20th. She asked that FSU should support them.
