Possible Increase in Student Course Caps Without Faculty Member Approval

A faculty member contacted the FSU and indicated that they and their colleagues were told they must allow additional students to their courses despite the fact that the courses already had the maximum number of students as previously determined by the department. A member of the Grievance Committee informed the department that, per Article 15.4 of the contract, once a course reaches its student cap, only the instructor of record can allow additional students and that it is entirely at the discretion of the faculty member whether or not to do so.
