Sign petition to the Governor to increase your raises and other news from the FSU

Dear Colleague,

Please help us get a better salary increase by signing the petition to the Governor below.   A fuller update for bargaining will come soon.

Bargaining update:  We have received a very low verbal offer for salary increases for the next 3 years: 1% in January 2018, 2% in January 2019, and 2% in January 2020, with an extra 1% in August 2018 if the state meets revenue targets of $27 billion.

The low salary offer is in part because Governor Baker has issued such low economic parameters (an outline of what the universities can offer to their campuses) to higher education employees, even lower than what other state employees are receiving.  The MTA along with other unions (such as SEIU) in the state sent a letter to Governor Baker (you can see an article on this here).

Sign the petition to get a better, fairer offer, at least in line with what other state employees are receiving and that will more readily keep up with the cost of living:

► The newly formed FSU subcommittee, EMERGE (Energizing Membership: Engagement, Recruitment, Retention, Growth, and Empowerment) will be holding its very first meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 1st, from 11am-12:30pm in Wheatley 5-41.  EMERGE is tasked with developing and implementing a membership retention and recruitment plan in the face of threats to the labor movement and to public higher education.  EMERGE meetings are open to all FSU members; your involvement is welcome!

For FSU members in good standing:

►Retirement Counseling is available to FSU members:  see here for more information

The union is only as strong as members are involved.  Let us know if you want to be involved in the union, serve on our membership drive, a committee, or help with any of these issues. If you have not yet joined as a full member we urge you to do so now! (contact the FSU office for membership materials).
