Tenure Denial Cases

The FSU filed two grievances on behalf of members who were denied tenure. In both cases, the FSU asserted that procedural violations had occurred in regards to faculty primary roles in academic and personnel matters. Specifically, the Provost’s decision ran counter to the recommendations at all prior levels of review. In one case, the administration agreed to redo the tenure review utilizing the proper procedures and the member was awarded tenure with the promotion being retroactive to 9/1..

In addition, members of the DPC charged with reviewing the tenure file in this first case filed a collective grievance alleging that their rights were violated as a result of the procedural violations. The parties are engaged in informal discussions on resolving this case.

The second case is still pending.
