Dear Colleagues,
The Faculty Staff Union is gathering information from our members about lost federal grant funding and the impacts to graduate students and staff that are dependent on this funding. So far the university has offered little except “heartfelt condolences” when large grants have been terminated, stranding students and staff without funding. Although we appreciate the work that the Office of General Council has been doing to appeal all our lost grants, many of us are in need of emergency bridge funding. In contrast, UMass Amherst if offering emergency bridge funding to faculty. We would like UMass Boston to have a similar approach to supporting our research community.
If you need emergency bridge funding for a terminated grant, please let us know ASAP by filling out this googleform. We are preparing a letter to the Chancellor asking for bridge funding to primarily cover lost stipends for students and lost funding for vital staff, with some modest supplies also considered. Please be modest in requests and only ask for what you feel you need.
In Solidarity,
