Dear Members,

As I write this out of the corner of my eye I see them.  The pile is calling for me to open them.  I move the pile across the room but still they demand attention. They are of course a pile of blue books.  I wondered when we began using blue books.  A google search indicates Butler University first used them in the 1920s.  Butler’s school colors are blue and white.

Dear Members,

May 6th is National Nurses Day.  Thank you to our nursing faculty for all your work educating our students, conducting scholarship plus practicing to maintain your nursing license.

The FSU welcomes all members to our end of year social. Non-members are also very welcome to  join us to learn about the work the union does and to encourage you to join. We are stronger together.

Dear Members,

The end of April signals the semester end is near.  We are on the homestretch (Kentucky Derby is May 4th) yet sometimes the finish line seems so far away!  

Save the Date! May 7^th and May 8^th

Join the FSU for a little nosh, chat with colleagues and spend some time gathering with others.  We are hosting two drop by and take a break events.  Both are 12PM to 2PM on Tuesday, May 7^th and Wednesday, May 8^th.

Dear Members,

Today is Earth Day!   The first earth day took place in 1970 and included activities across the country.  Why April 22^nd?  Oddly, the date was selected because it was partway between spring break and final exams plus there is milder weather in April.

Dear Members,

It is finally here- the eclipse is just hours away.  If you are on campus the partial eclipse begins at 2:16PM with peak occurring at 3:29PM. It ends at 4:39PM.  I am ready with my solar glasses.
