FSU Nuts & Bolts: RES Funds

2/13/2023

Dear Members,

We all receive emails reminding us of an upcoming deadline.  We read it and then say to ourselves – oh, yeah, I need to do that before the deadline. Sometimes we do meet the deadline and other times grading, advising, committee work, and family life causes us to miss the deadline.

This issue of Nuts & Bolts is a reminder to submit your RES funds.  But first..

Help us push for a larger pay raise!

FSU Nuts & Bolts: Economic Parameters- Help Seek a True Raise

1/30/2023

Dear Members,

Last week’s Nuts & Bolts explained how our raise percents are determined. This week we continue by providing you more information and asking you to help us push Governor Healey to set parameters that exceed the consumer price index (CPI) and hence, represent a true raise.

Parameters?

This is the term used to describe the percent raises of state employees.

Who sets the parameters?

The Governor.

Dear Members,

The Classified Staff Union (CSU) members are essential to the operations of UMB in countless ways: their work literally makes UMB work.   And now they need our support and solidarity.

Dues deduction refund - update

8/4/2022

Dear FSU members,

We are pleased to inform you that your August 5, 2022, paycheck includes a refund of the dues deduction taken in error on July 22, 2022 (this applies to dues paying FSU members only).  You should see a negative number for your Boston MSP Dues in the After Tax Deductions box, located in the middle of your pay advice.

Dues deductions occur over ten months, September to June.  We worked with both UMB and UMass System personnel to correct the error and to make sure appropriate systems are coded for ten deductions.
