Today is a national call in day against Secretary of Labor Nominee Puzder.
Donald Trump’s nominee for Labor Secretary—fast-food CEO Andrew Puzder— made his name opposing meaningful increases to the minimum wage and overtime as he ran a fast food conglomerate. Puzder will make workplaces worse and place the interests of corporations above the interests of working families.
Next week the Senate will hold its first hearing on Puzder and a confirmation vote is likely to follow soon after. We’re calling with an unprecedented national coalition and organizing events around the country to stop the Anti-Labor Secretary from coming into office and doing any more damage to working people.
Join us today by clicking here or calling 1-844-612-6113 to reach both of your senators. After you’re connected to one of your senator’s offices, tell whomever answers that you want the senator to vote NO on Andrew Puzder’s confirmation as Secretary of Labor.
Here’s a sample script to use when making the call:
Hi, my name is [YOUR NAME] and as a Massachusetts resident, I am calling to urge you to vote against confirming Andrew Puzder as Secretary of Labor, as he will make workplaces worse. The fast-food CEO stands in direct opposition to the needs of working people. He has a history of violating labor laws and cheating the people who work for his restaurants out of their pay. He opposes minimum wage and overtime pay increases and continually puts profits ahead of people. He’s not the advocate we need in the Department of Labor. Thank you.
Phone lines may be busy at times. It’s a great sign that phones are ringing off the hook. Try calling back a later to get through.
p.s. If your Senator’s mailbox is full, please let us know by emailing fsu@umb.edu. We’ll pass this information along to get the word out to the media that we’ve jammed up phone lines because of the incredible opposition to the Anti-Labor Secretary.
