Delayed! GIC Vote on Benefit Design Changes

2/12/2026

Dear Faculty and Librarians,

This morning the GIC commissioners voted to postpone action on benefit design changes which are the increases in our deductibles, co-pays, premiums, and to continue covering critical prescriptions such as GLP-1s.

How did this happen?  You. Everyone who sent an email to the GIC and to legislators urging them not to raise the rates.

The commissioners acknowledged receiving over 450 pages of emails.  One commissioner specifically mentioned the number of state legislators who contacted them to vote no.

The postponement was made in order to gather additional data. Most likely a vote will take place at the next meeting on February 26th.

We will send additional meeting details including actions you can take.

Flexible Spending Accounts: For those who use a flexible spending account, the current provider is TASC. Commissioners voted to change to Ameriflex.

Thank you to all who acted.

Sincerely,

Caroline Coscia                             Jason Rodriquez
