FSU annual meeting call for new business items and other information from the FSU

4/7/2020

Dear Colleagues,

► The FSU Annual Meeting will be Thursday, April 30th, 9-11: This will be virtual; details to come on the platform we will be using.  We will be listening to your areas of concern and approving the FSU budget at this meeting.  New business items need to be submitted by 5 pm, this Thursday, April 9 to fsu@umb.edu to be considered per FSU policies (see here)

This meeting is an opportunity to update you on what is going on, receive your feedback, and talk about your areas of concern and what the FSU should be working on.  The items to be considered include the FSU budget (we will be sending you a proposed FY21 FSU budget shortly).  Please attend and give us your thoughts.

► Stopping your parking pass:  To get reimbursed for and to stop your semester, monthly, etc. parking passes, go to:

https://www.umb.edu/editor_uploads/images/university/staff_form_umb1.pdf  Under the  FSU section, check ‘Discontinue Pass.’  Email your completed form to HR@umb.edu and to Parking.Trans@umb.edu.  The administration says they will send something out shortly about this as well.

►MTA Annual Meeting:  Given the coronavirus, the Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA) Annual Meeting will now be held virtually on Saturday, May 2.  Let us know by April 14 if you want to be a delegate to this meeting.  This in an election year for MTA President and Vice President, so we are seeking to fill our slate of delegates.

► Retirement counseling from the MTA.  Sessions are available by phone or online to help members decide the best time to retire, determine if you have buy-back opportunities, provide information on retiree health insurance, Medicare and Social Security benefits, and answer many other questions. Please see here for more information and to schedule an appointment (please have online access during the call).  In addition, those moving from ORP to MSRB should consider making liquid TIAA annuity assets pay off service purchased and related costs.  Contact Ed McCourt directly for this information (see his contact information on the link above).
