Dear FSU Members,
We would like to make you aware of the following MTA retirement counseling sessions conducted by Ed McCourt, MTA’s Retirement Consultant (see his message below). These sessions are free to MTA members only.
Sincerely,
Caroline Coscia
FSU President
Senior Lecturer II
Political Science Department
For those just now hearing about retirement consultations, these sessions assist members in securing answers to retirement questions as they relate to the member’s specific situation. For example:
- Given my age and my service, when is the best time for me to retire?
- I’ve heard that members may be able to “buy back” service. Might I have a buyback opportunity?
- I’m involved with the [now closed} Section-60 option for transfer into the MSERS? Where am I in this
process?
- Why take option “C” instead of Option “A” or “B”?
- How will my Social Security benefit be affected by my MA pension?
- Where will I stand with health insurance in retirement? Will I be going into Medicare?
- As I move toward retirement, what, if any options, exists for me to enhance my retirement benefit?
Retirement consultations are open on Wednesday, June 14 and Thursday, June 22 between 9AM and 5:15PM.
If you have your MTA membership number at hand and would like to register for one of these consultations, click on this link and register. PLEASE NOTE: MTA has upgraded to a new version of the Microsoft Bookings app. Please review the image at bottom before registering.
Registration requires a member’s name, full home address (The box will allow entering a city and zip, as well) and email. Also needed are: a best phone contact for the appointment day, the member’s campus affiliation, the member’s MTA number (found on the wallet-sized membership card), and a preference for a call or an online Teams/Meet (Zoom-like) session. Once completed, a confirmation email is generated.
If all slots have been taken, email me directly. I will place you on a list to receive announcements should additional offerings open later in summer 2023.
Sincerely,
Ed McCourt
P.S. I encourage you not to begin the appointment registration process until you have your MTA ID number at hand. Secure your number by emailing: membership@massteacher.org or by phoning: 617-878-8208. Regretfully, registrations lacking MTA ID numbers are subject to cancelation.
