Dear Members,
This week, in addition to our FSU events, is National Health Education Week. The purpose is to raise awareness of public health issues and the role of public health educators.
RES Funds: Email informing you of your funds
Yes, we have heard your concerns about the decrease in your funding amount.
The contract language states:
Article 26.6.1 (b).1: A $150,000 pool from which individual awards of up to $500 will be made to bargaining-unit members who are active in research. Out of those funds, a total of $37,500 will be reserved exclusively for support of non-tenure-track faculty and librarians.
The pool of funds is constant while the number of faculty eligible for funding has increased, resulting in less funds per member.
NTT Promotions: Due January 28, 2025
To those lecturers, senior lecturers and senior lecturers IIs (including clinical lecturers) who informed your chair in May 2024 of your intent to apply for promotions, the deadline to submit materials to your Chair is Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
The FSU will be holding a workshop on your submittal materials. This will take place in late November.
Tuition Credits: Members, spouses and dependents are eligible
Bargaining unit members who are 50% or more, as well as their spouses and dependents, are eligible for tuition credits. The credits vary and depend on several factors, including whether or not the courses are Continuing Ed, graduate versus undergraduate, years of service of the faculty member in question, etc. The percentage of the credit granted and who is eligible for the credit can be seen in Article 27.10 and 27.11 of the contract (for total tuition dollar amounts contact each campuses Bursar’s Office).
Note: UMB Spring 2025 semester registration opens November 5th.
