Hello Colleagues,

Just as the devastating virus is following different timelines on a state-by-state basis, so too are its collateral effects unfolding along varied chronologies. In the arena of higher education, this means that all of us who teach in the University of Massachusetts system might do well to study the evidence of what is currently happening in Michigan, Ohio, and other states where the devastating practices of  austerity are being deployed.

Information for the FSU Annual Meeting, TOMORROW, 9-11

Dear FSU Member:

The FSU Annual meeting will occur tomorrow, (Thursday) April 30 from 9 to 11 am via zoom.  We will send out the zoom link and password at 8 am tomorrow morning.  Look for this in your email.  The subject will be ‘FSU meeting zoom link.’  Please join by computer video and audio so we can see who is present, and you can vote and indicate that you want to speak easily and quickly.  Participating on the phone will delay voting and inhibit your ability to speak. 

REMINDER: Important Information on Non Tenure Track Faculty Contract Rights- Deadline to Signal Intent to Apply for Promotions is May 15th, 2020

►The financial outlook for UMB:  Many people are asking about budget cuts.  If these occur, this will be from cuts from the state budget and/or declining enrollments.  The university does not have a picture of enrollments for the fall yet.
