Welcome back to the spring semester.  For those of you just joining us, welcome to UMass Boston! 

Here are some updates and reminders:

► FSU internal organizer for this semester.  Sandra (Sandy) Howland, FSU member and union activist, (Senior Lecturer II, English), will be an FSU internal organizer this semester. Sandy will be working with the FSU to discuss with members their concerns and issues on campus and to increase membership involvement.

We have heard from sources throughout the university that there is some confusion regarding the new Graduate Assistant contract negotiated by the Graduate Employee Organization (GEO) and UMass Boston Admin. We hope to alleviate some of this confusion in this email.

Public higher education serves the public good: it benefits more than just the college graduate.  Because it helps the larger community, we should subsidize higher education more than we do so today.
