Brown bag at noon today, advisory committee and other news from the FSU

9/26/17

Dear Colleagues,

We want to update you on some activities today and in the FSU:

► Brown Bag Discussion of Crumbling Public Foundations: Privatization and UMass Boston's Financial Crisis”: Today, Tuesday, September 26, 12 noon, 3rd floor McCormack Building, Ryan Lounge, hosted by the Professional Staff Union (all FSU members are welcome to attend).  They will also discuss the response from Robert Manning, Chair of the UMass Board of Trustees to the union Presidents’ presentations at the last Board of Trustees Meeting (including FSU President Marlene Kim).

►Advisory members for the FSU: The FSU is creating a committee from representatives of each college to advise us on campus matters of concern and also on how to increase representation in the union from members in non-CLA colleges.  We aim to meet once per month.  Let us know if you are interested in serving on this committee.

► DPC/CPC Chairs training:  is on Thursday, October 5th at 2:30 pm in the Chancellor’s Conference room, Quinn, 3rd floor. Co-sponsored by the Office for Faculty Development and the FSU, this is designed to aid DPC and CPC Chairs and inform faculty of their rights and responsibilities in promotion and review.

For FSU members in good standing:

►Retirement Counseling is available to FSU members:  see here for more information

The union is only as strong as members are involved.  Let us know if you want to be involved in the union, serve on our membership drive, a committee, or help with any of these issues. If you have not yet joined as a full member we urge you to do so now! (contact the FSU office for membership materials).
